Monday Mischief~Luring Geese

This past Saturday we went to a graduation party at our trainers place. We took the dogs with us since it was a all day affair. The dogs needed a potty break so we walked up to the upper pond to potty, play, swim and get into some mischief.

Once we got there this is what we seen…..

A family of geese.

A family of geese.

And then we seen this……

A whole bunch of families.

A whole bunch of families.

There had to be over 50 babies, it was just to much excitement for the Gman he had to go check them out taking Glory with to get into mischief……

I called and called to have them come back, Glory turned and came back……

I'm a good girl, I listen.

I’m a good girl, I listen.

Gambler finally coming back in.

Gambler finally coming back in.

The gander heading back to his family.

The gander heading back to his family.

Finally got the gang back on shore…….

Since the dogs were back on shore the gander joined his family again……

When you have retrievers who are bird motivated it’s hard to keep them from chasing waterfowl in the water. If younger when doing this they will swim and swim until they are tired. Older dogs with better recall you can call them off of the bird. Nellie was the non mischief maker as she hung out on shore while the two mischief makers went on their way.

FitDog Friday

As you can see our FitDog Friday exercise this week was one day of hunt test training on land with Gambler and Glory. They are so happy the snow is gone so they can get back out and do what they love to do, retrieve ducks. The other day of training this week was again hunt test training but on water this time. Nellie got to join in on the exercise as we were at our house so she went along for the fun and exercise. Our pond is in the marsh so the marsh grass is much thicker than normal grass and longer so they get there work out running through it as well as swimming across the pond. They have to go in and out on the banks (sometimes they jump in and fly) so they really have to use their front shoulder muscles to get them in and out of the water on sloped banks. Great exercise all around and easy on their joints.

Nellie was first:

Glory was next:

Last was Gambler:

They don’t mind exercising when they are doing something they love.

FitDog Friday~Open Water With See Beautiful~Glory Girl

FINALLY! The weather has broke, the freezing cold and snow has disappeared and the pond opened up! The SS gang was happy to see the open water when we took our walk to the pond last weekend. They all jumped in and started swimming around like they never saw water before. Glory would jump in swim to other side, get out and jump in again. She was having so much fun. They didn’t need anything to entertain them or to get them to swim but I did throw a stick a time or two to give them some retrieves. Swimming is a really great exercise to keep dogs fit. It is especially great on dogs with arthritis or recovering from a surgery as they don’t have the constant pounding on hard ground as they do when they walk/run or jump on land.

Here are the pictures from our day at the pond.

My eyes, my eyes she splashed water in my eyes.

So excited the water is open.

My American Girl~Glory Girl
I am truly blessed to See Beautiful not only This Moment but every moment of the day when I look at My American Girl, Glory Girl. She brings so much beauty to my life. She is full of life and doesn’t have a care in the world. She knows how to wiggle her butt to make me smile when I am sad. She knows how to make me laugh when I am down. She is the sweetest girl that gets sweeter each day. I am blessed to have a good friend that loves to do photography and knows how to do more advance edits to photos then I could ever imagine. In the next blog posts if you see some really stunning photos chances are Nichole from Alred Photography edited them. Her work as been featured in a Marine Magazine down in Alabama. Thank you Nichole for adding beauty to my photos.

Thursday Barks And Bytes~Spring In The Air

bb3b_fotor1

The co-hosts for Barks And Bytes are Linda from 2browndawgs and Jodi from Heart Like A Dog.
The Barks:
Happy first day of spring! It sure doesn’t feel like spring here with rain and snow flurry’s. The grass is dead and I don’t even see any life coming from my flower beds. The only way I know it is spring here is the big mud puddles and the muddy paw prints on the floor. That is when I wish it was winter again…..NOT!
Here are my two spring like photo’s. This was from this weekend when we finally had nice weather and the water across the street was open so the dogs thought it was time to play in the water.
photo 1 photo 2
This past weekend we did a couple of pheasant hunts at SS. Saturday we put out 6 pheasants, 2 for each dog. Each one got their 2 pheasants and had a blast doing it. They were so happy to be out hunting again since they have had a long winter and haven’t done much the past 3 months.

sunshine-award-sunflower-frum-musings-by-marty
Jenna has entered Lexus in a Kurgo Facebook contest. Lexus is currently in first place, lets keep her there so click here to go vote for her.
Jenna received this award from two different bloggers, each one had different rules. I could choose from the two sets of rules as to which one I wanted to do along with passing this fabulous award onto 10 other bloggers.
Here are the rules:
1. Thank the person who gave it to you. Check!
Name ten things about myself .
And pass the award on to ten other blogs.
2. Smile and pass on the award.
I will do both of the rules. 🙂 one big smile, thank you Jenna.
10 things about myself:
1. At one time I owned 6 cats. 3 of my own and 3 I adopted from my mom after she passed.
2. I lived in a shed for 1.5 yrs until our house was built.
3. I owned horses at one time and would haul them out to Colorado once a year, pack my gear and ride them up the mountain and elk hunt.
4. I have one brother.
5. I have semen frozen from Norman if anyone ever wanted to use him for breeding.
6. I have a stick kitty tatto’ed on my foot for one of my cats, have a paw print from one of my cats, have my puppies and dog paw prints, a couple of Chinese symbols, a ankle wrap signifying the loss of my parents and head portraits of Norman and Nellie on my thigh.
7. I had laser surgery 16 years ago and now I have to wear glasses again if I want to see.
8. I have Sunday supper each Sunday with my brother and his family.
9. I love to pull little kids loose teeth out and pay them when I do.
10. I love music but can’t hold a tune to save my soul.
Now I pass the Sunshine award onto 10 blogs I follow that I enjoy reading. You can choose what rule you would like to do. Enjoy!
Stop on over and check out these 10 fabulous blogs.
Now on to my picture of MK for today.

Rain Forest Coastal Labs Shampoo Review and Giveaway

I was not asked to do this review, I chose to do this review. I wanted to give my opinion on RFCLS so others could learn about what I think is a very good shampoo and spread the word on it by having a give away at the end of the review.
home_column_products
This is what Rainforest Coastal Labs has to say about their product:
HYDROCEPTBY RAINFOREST COASTAL LABS

Hydrocept products from Rainforest Coastal Labs are designed to cleanse and restore natural skin-protecting oils, as well as match the neutral pH balance of canine skin. A gentle and effective surfactant blend is used to capture and lift away surface dirt, bacteria, and dead cells. Natural triglycerides and fatty acids restore the skin barrier against allergens, bacteria and dirt while simultaneously replenishing and rejuvenating the coat. A Hydrocept-healthy skin and coat retains moisture and natural elasticity. Premium botanical oils and polysaccharides leave your dog clean and fresh smelling. Our products rinse easily and are formulated for use by hand or through professional shampooing systems.

SEVEN REASONS WHY HYDROCEPT SHAMPOO SHOULD BE YOUR FIRST CHOICE

  1. Highest Quality natural coconut and botanical oil-based cleansing ingredients
  2. Gentle, hypoallergenic and soap free. No Sodium lauryl or laureth sulfates
  3. Made with rich natural oils, leaving the coat silky and healthy. Replaces essential skin fatty acids
  4. Unique combination of surfactants, resulting in a rich gentle cleansing lather, easy rinsing and smooth finish
  5. Full of rich conditioners, including Pro-Vitamin B5, which promotes long lasting moisture and strength to the hair
  6. Designed to be gentle enough for frequent and even daily use
  7. Formulated specifically for the unique characteristics of canine skin and fur

Check out Rain Forest Costal Labs testimonials (of course Norman has something to say about the shampoo).

Now on to the fun stuff photo’s and review.

The Shampoo I am using is the Extreme Outdoor Coat.

Chesapeake’s are known for their “oily” coats. Some say you shouldn’t bath them let alone everyday as it will strip the natural oils off their skin and leave them vulnerable while hunting in the cold temperatures.  My Chesapeake’s live in the house with us, they sleep in our bed at night and they go hunting during the waterfowl and upland bird season. The area’s we hunt in are not ideal and the dogs come out black after hunting so they get a bath. That maybe twice in one weekend. RFCLS is formulated to be able to be used each day. It is gentile enough to be used on dogs that are in the harshest environment and need baths regularly. Their coats are dull and course before a bath and after they are shiny and soft, full and thick.
